Replace the product, colour and sheen with the ones you have chosen, and confirm the current data sheet before you issue. Coat counts and maintenance intervals differ between the three lines, so refer to each data sheet.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION Wood to be clean, dry and free of mill glaze, dirt, and any previous coating not compatible with the specified product. Moisture content within the range stated on the current product data sheet at the time of application. APPLICATION Apply in accordance with the manufacturer's current data sheet. Ambient and substrate conditions to meet the requirements of the current manufacturer's product data sheet. Do not apply if precipitation or temperatures below the stated minimum are expected within the recoat window. Number of coats and recoat interval as stated on the data sheet for the specified product and substrate. END GRAIN AND CUT ENDS All cut ends, notches and drilled penetrations to receive the specified end-grain treatment before installation. MOCK-UP Provide a sample panel of the specified species, mill finish and coating system for review and approval before general application. Approved panel to remain on site as the standard of finish. MAINTENANCE Maintenance interval to be confirmed against the current product data sheet for the applicable exposure.
Preparation is conditional, so do not specify it as a fixed step.
What the coating needs is wood that is clean and dry: power washed if rough, sanded if smooth. Which products get you there depends on the shape the wood arrives in, and on new bare stock the answer is often none of them.
