Finished a deck, a fence, a cabin, a cedar wall? Tag us. We repost real projects on real houses, because real projects show colour better than any chip card.
Two things, and we’ll find it.
Post the photo publicly, tag the handle and use the hashtag. If your account is private we will not be able to see it, so email instead.
Tell us what we’re looking at
A caption with these four things makes the post far more useful to the next person deciding on a colour:
- The colour name or number, for example 112 Woodlands
- Which product: Protektor SLT, Protektor DR or Clarity
- The species and whether it is smooth or rough sawn
- Roughly where you are, because sun and rain change everything
What we do with it
We ask you first. Always.
- We comment or message before we repost anything
- Credit goes to you, and to your painter or builder if you name them
- We may ask if we can use it on the website or in print, separately
- Tagging us is not permission on its own, and you can say no
Wood is difficult to photograph. Four things that help.
None of this needs a real camera. Timing and light matter more than the camera.
Shoot in flat light
Overcast, or the hour after sunrise and before sunset. Midday sun can blow out the grain and make colours look lighter and greyer than they really are.
Give us one close and one wide
A wide shot shows the house. A close shot at arm’s length shows the grain, the sheen and the actual colour. We need both, and most people only send the wide one.
Wait until it is dry and cured
Wet coating reads much darker and glossier than the finished job. Photograph it once the coating has dried and reached its finished appearance.
Leave the filters off
A warm filter turns 112 Woodlands into something we do not sell. Somebody is going to choose a colour based on your photo.
Email works just as well.
Send the photos to info@cbrproducts.com. Full size is better than a screenshot, and a couple of lines about the job is plenty.
What to include
The product and colour, the species, the town, and who did the work if you would like them credited.
Whose photos we can accept
Only photos you took, or that you have the right to share. If your photographer or builder owns them, ask them first, and we will credit whoever you tell us to.
Houses and addresses
We don’t publish addresses, and we will crop out a house number or a plate if one is visible. Say the word and we will keep the location vague as well.
People in the frame
If anyone is identifiable in the shot, please make sure they are happy to be posted before you send it.
If you change your mind
Email us and we will take it down. No explanation needed and no argument from us.
